Make sense of your bank statement

A practical way to recognise income, recurring costs and bank charges.

Follow the dates

Opening balance, transactions and closing balance show the movement of money over the statement period. Check transaction and value dates.

Find recurring payments

Identify regular income, debit orders, card spending and bank fees. Review unfamiliar transactions with your bank using an independently verified contact.

Protect your details

Never provide an online-banking password, bank PIN or card PIN to a lender. Share statements only through an authorised secure document channel.

Examples use LSL. No current market rates, fuel prices or CPI values are claimed. This is general education, not a personalised recommendation.
